Damion Downs is set to depart 1. FC Köln for Southampton, as the two clubs have reportedly reached an agreement on the transfer fee.
1. FC Köln forward Damion Downs is on the verge of leaving the newly-promoted Bundesliga side.
Following consistent reports linking the 20-year-old with a move to England, Southampton have now had a bid of around €8 million accepted by 1. FC Köln, according to Sky.
The deal is expected to be finalized after the Gold Cup, where Downs is currently representing the United States, with only the final contractual details left to be settled.
Downs’ contract with 1. FC Köln runs until summer 2026.
The young attacker scored 10 goals in the 2. Bundesliga last season.
