2. Bundesliga: Miyoshi equaliser earns point for Bochum

Preußen Münster and VfL Bochum played out a 1-1 draw at the Preußenstadion this evening.

Koji Miyoshi’s second-half equaliser cancelled out Imad Rondić’s first-half opener to earn a point for Uwe Rösler’s side in an entertaining contest.

The opening exchanges were lively, with both sides keen to move the ball forward at pace. Bochum carved out the first clear chance when Callum Marshall somehow found Miyoshi unmarked inside the area, but Münster goalkeeper Johannes Schenk was quick off his line to produce a fine save and keep the scores level.

Münster took the lead after 35 minutes through January signing Rondić. Jorrit Hendrix threaded a neat through ball into the path of the Bosnian striker, who timed his run to beat the offside trap before advancing on goal and calmly chipping the ball over Timo Horn to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage at the break.

Bochum began to assert themselves after the interval and needed just 14 minutes of the second half to restore parity. Philipp Hofmann knocked down a cross into the path of Miyoshi, who made no mistake this time, firing a low first-time effort past Schenk. Both goalkeepers were kept busy thereafter, repeatedly coming out on top as neither side could find a decisive second goal.

Münster enjoyed more possession in the closing stages but once again failed to turn it into clear-cut chances. Bochum nearly snatched all three points in stoppage time when Oliver Olsen found himself in acres of space inside the box, only for a heroic Münster block to deny him and ensure the points were shared.

In truth, the draw does little for either side. Münster remain 15th and without a win in seven matches, while Bochum extend their unbeaten league run to eight games but stay eighth in the table.
