2. Bundesliga resumed after the international break with wins for Schalke and Eintracht Braunschweig on Friday. A day later, before the Topspiel action, six more teams will resume their league campaign.
SC Paderborn vs. Arminia Bielefeld
Paderborn are winless in their last six matches against Bielefeld, but they will arrive at this one as the in-form team. Ralf Kettemann’s side won four successive games before the international break, while the newly–promoted team lost the last three.
Marcel Hoffmeier is currently the only Paderborn player injured. As for the visitors, Stefano Russ and Leo Oppermann will not be in the squad. Mitch Kniat’s team will search for their first away win since matchday two.
Predicted Lineups:
Paderborn: Seimen; Hansen, Götze ©, Brackelmann; Curda, Castaneda, Baur, Obermair; Bilbija, Tigges, Klaas
Bielefeld: Kersken; Lannert, Schneider, Großer, Handwerker; Schreck; Mehlem, Corboz ©; Wörl, Grodowski, Momuluh
Karlsruher SC vs. 1. FC Kaiserslautern
Not only will Karlsruhe and Kaiserslautern start their Saturday afternoon game on equal points (15), but their most recent head-to-head fixtures promise an exciting fixture. Both clubs won twice in the last six encounters, with the other two ending in draws.
Sebastian Jung, Marcel Franke, and Louey Ben Farhat will not be back for Karlsruhe following their 3-3 draw in Dresden. In addition to Kenny-Prince Redondo and Simon Asta’s long-serving injuries, Kaiserslautern will be missing Maxwell Gyamfi through suspension.
Predicted Lineups:
Karlsruhe: Bernat; Kobald, Rapp, Beifus; Pedrosa, Herold; Egloff, Müller, Wanitzek ©; Förster, Schleusener
Kaiserslautern: Krahl; Sirch, Elvedi, Kim; Joly, Kunze, Sahin, Haas; Ritter ©, Skyttä; Prtajin
Preußen Münster vs. SG Dynamo Dresden
This will be the first 2. Bundesliga encounter between Preußen Münster and Dynamo Dresden. Like last season, the hosts started the campaign as everyone’s favorites for relegation, but they picked up seven points from the first four rounds. However, they’ve only added a single point in the last four games before the international break.
Dresden are also clearly in the relegation fight as their only win came against fellow newly-promoted side Arminia Bielefeld. They will now have to play without their starting goalkeeper, Tim Schreiber, and left-back Sascha Risch for the first time this season. Similarly, the hosts will be without Joshua Mees and Etienne Amenyido, who scored a combined five goals this season.
Predicted Lineups:
Münster: Schenk; Meyerhöfer, Heuer, Jaeckel, Kirkeskov; Preißinger; Schulz, Hendrix ©; Batista Meier; Vilhelmsson, Lokotsch
Dresden: Grill; Faber, Kammerknecht, Bünning, Marx; Sapina; Hauptmann ©, Amoako; Lemmer, Fröling; Daferner
