Real Madrid’s historic revenue milestone: Real Madrid secured the top spot in the world rankings, making history as the first football club to surpass £870 million (€1bn) in annual revenue. Their financial dominance is driven by £499 million in revenue from commercial activities and the successful transformation of their stadium into a year-round entertainment hub.
Manchester United’s unprecedented decline: Manchester United have slumped to eighth place, their lowest-ever position since the Money League began 29 years ago. The club’s broadcast revenue fell by nearly £50 million, to £179.4 million, due to their absence from the 2024-25 Champions League.
Liverpool becomes England’s financial leader: For the first time in the report’s history, Liverpool have emerged as the highest-earning Premier League club, reaching fifth place globally with a total revenue of £705 million. This rise was fueled by their return to elite European competition and a 7 per cent boost in commercial income from events at Anfield.
European giants edge out English dominance: This year marks the first time no English club has featured in the top four, with Real Madrid, Barcelona (£819m), Bayern Munich (£725m), and PSG (£706m) leading the table. These clubs capitalised on deep runs in the expanded Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup to secure the top spots.
The impact of reduced matchday fixtures: United’s financial outlook remains pressured, with the club hosting only 20 competitive fixtures at Old Trafford during the 2025-26 season. This limited schedule – caused by a total absence from Europe and early domestic cup exits – will further reduce their matchday income.
The necessity of stadium modernisation: Deloitte experts emphasise that, while United are still a top global brand, they have fallen behind rivals that have already modernised their facilities. Upgrading infrastructure is seen as vital for clubs to generate revenue 365 days a year, rather than relying solely on the 90 minutes of football.
New tournaments driving global revenue: The expanded FIFA Club World Cup has been a major financial driver, providing an average 17 per cent uplift in broadcast revenue for the ten Money League clubs involved. Success in 2026 now requires clubs to diversify their business models beyond traditional matchday and broadcast streams.
Record growth in Women’s Football: The women’s game has reached a new financial peak, with the top 15 clubs reporting average revenues exceeding £8.7 million for the first time. Arsenal Women has taken the top spot globally with revenues of £22.3 million (€25.6m), proving that significant investment in fan data and stadium attendance is paying off.
