Fabio Grosso Let Go by Lyon

This move marks the second managerial change for Olympique Lyonnais this season. Grosso, a former player for the club, had taken the helm during the international break in September, succeeding Laurent Blanc.

The decision to remove manager Fabio Grosso came as Lyon found themselves at the bottom of the Ligue 1 standings. Grosso’s final match in charge was a 2-0 home defeat against Lille, leaving Lyon with seven points from 12 games and a five-point gap from safety.

Expressing gratitude, Lyon stated, “Olympique Lyonnais would like to thank Fabio Grosso and his assistants for their dedication and professionalism since taking over the professional team.”

Grosso, known for his tenure as an Italy international, previously played for Lyon between 2007 and 2009. His appointment in September aimed to bring stability after Blanc’s departure. 

Although Lyon secured their first league victory of the season under Grosso’s management, defeating Stade Rennais, they remained anchored at the bottom of the standings. 

As Lyon navigates this managerial transition, the club gears up to face Lens in their upcoming fixture this Saturday.
