Gonçalo Ramos’ Brace Fuels PSG’s Win Over Lyon

Luis Enrique and his team received help from Lyon veteran Nemanja Matić, who scored an own goal in the third minute in what would start an onslaught of goals for the Parisians in the first 45 minutes.

Three minutes later, Brazilian defender Lucas Beraldo made it 2-0 PSG for an impressive start to the game. In less than ten minutes, Lyon found themselves in trouble early in the match, facing a two-goal deficit. The goals didn’t stop there for the capital club as they were only getting started.

Gonçalo Ramos got into the scoring action with a goal in the 32nd minute to make it 3-0 PSG, but Lyon did show fight. Ernest Nuamah scored five minutes later to cut the deficit to 3-1 as Les Gones aimed for a comeback result.

Ramos scored again in the 42nd minute to register a first-half brace and restore PSG’s three-goal advantage over OL. After five goals in the first 45 minutes, the second half was quieter, with neither side finding the back of the net.

Lyon did register a high number of total shots (16) in the contest, but Gianluigi Donnarumma did make six saves to prevent any comeback from the visitors as OL had a come-from-behind win last week against Stade Brestois last weekend.

PSG secured another three points and the Lyon victory is one of three matches the Parisians will have in a week. The capital club will face Montpellier Hérault SC on Wednesday and Le Havre AC on Saturday. Following these matches, PSG will shift their focus to the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semifinal tie against Borussia Dortmund on May 1st.

As for Lyon, this loss to PSG is a lesson against the team as they’ll face them again on May 25th in the Coupe de France Final. Pierre Sage and his team also see their five-game unbeaten streak end with four Ligue 1 games left on their schedule. OL will host AS Monaco next Sunday at Groupama Stadium as the team looks to end their season by riding another unbeaten streak.
