Inter Milan have just secured their 20th Serie A title, beating rivals AC Milan at San Siro on Monday night to wrap up the championship in style.
The Nerazzurri are now in possession of the fabled “second star”, which will adorn their famous blue and black shirts from next season.
A trophy parade on Sunday is expected to draw a crowd of around 50,000 fans as Inter’s players and staff make their way through the streets of Milan and start the party.
However, there are some significant financial hurdles for the Scudetto holders to overcome despite their new-found success.

The balance sheet picture is not all that rosy with a big loan of €275m plus another €100m interest due to be paid to Oaktree Capital before the end of the season.
Further down the line there are also loans of nearly €400m due to be paid in 2027.
It means that despite their on-field success – Serie A champions in 2021, Champions League finalists last season – Inter could still be required to make sales before they sign players.
Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukau departed after the 2021 victory for big money while Andre Onana was sold to Manchester United last summer.
While the club this time around are intending to keep the core of the squad together, their resolve is nonetheless to be tested should attractive bids come in.
Here we look at five players who could LEAVE Inter this summer.
Nicolo Barella
The star of the Inter show has been subject of plenty of transfer interest throughout the past few windows.
Barella, 27, has attracted the attention of Premier League heavyweights Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United over the last year or so, and would be an upgrade in all those midfields.
The Italian international is under contract at San Siro until 2026 and Inter could well be facing a transfer predicament this summer.
There have been reports in the Italian press that Barella had “verbally agreed” a new contract, which would take his terms until 2029 on a net salary of €9m, but so far that contract remains without an official signature on it.
Barella would likely command a fee of €80m in the transfer market although Inter would do everything in their power to prevent the loss of their midfield metronome.
Denzel Dumfries
The Dutch international is perhaps the most likely of Inter’s first-team players to be sold this summer.
The 28-year-old has a contract which expires in 2025 and Inter club bosses are reportedly set to get tough in order to make sure they don’t lose him for nothing next summer.
Dumfries has done a great job replacing Hakimi but Inter are ready to let him go if he refuses to sign a new deal this summer.
Contract talks are said to be in the balance with Dumfries’ camp dragging their feet over an offer of €4m net per season.
Manchester United, as well as Chelsea, have previously been linked with Dumfries and the Red Devils could well be the most likely candidates for his signature this summer.
Inter are also rumoured to have done their homework over replacements with United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Fiorentina’s Michael Kayode and the Spezia player Emil Holm – on loan at Atalanta this season – reported to be on the Nerazzurri’s list.
Valetin Carboni
It’s set to be a landmark summer in the career of the 19-year-old with Inter reported to be ready to sanction a full-time sale for the Argentina international.
Carboni is a hugely promising attacker but is probably a player too many for Simone Inzaghi’s first-team squad given the options at his disposal.
As such, should an attractive bid materialise then Carboni could take his leave.
A homegrown youth product, Carboni has enjoyed a productive season on loan at Monza, scoring twice and making four assists, and the club reportedly value him at around €30m.
There is Serie A interest in the shape of Fiorentina, who tried to snare him last summer, as well as Atalanta.
Further afield and Unai Emery’s Champions League-bound Aston Villa have been listed as potentially interested in the elegant left-footer.
Carboni, a son of former player Ezequiel, recently made his senior Argentina debut and is said to be a favourite of their coach Lionel Scaloni.
Marcus Thuram
The France World Cup finalist scored on Monday night as his side claimed the Serie A title against arch-rivals AC Milan, joining father Lilian – formerly of Juventus – as an Italian champion.
The 26-year-old striker has enjoyed an immense debut season having joined on a free transfer last summer upon the expiry of his Borussia Monchengladbach contract.
Bosmans don’t come much better than Thuram, who has scored 12 league goals in 31 matches to this point.
And, as a free transfer, any fee banked for Thuram would be profit.
He is under contract until 2028 and tantalisingly for interested clubs there is an €85m release clause in his deal.
Inter won’t budge from that valuation but it would still be a good deal for any interested parties.
Paris Saint-Germain front the queue as they seek a big name to replace Kylian Mbappe but Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea have also been linked with the Frenchman.
Like Barella, Inter would prefer not to sell but could be forced into it should Thuram receive an offer he likes.
Alessandro Bastoni
The 25-year-old centre back has been a key figure in the Inter backline having joined from Atalanta back in 2017 for some €31m.
He is also an established Italian international, having won Euro 2020.
Inter are well protected against any bids for Bastoni having signed him to a new, long-term deal last summer.
His current deal expires in 2028 meaning Inter can call the tune in any potential transfer negotiations.
Manchester United, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham have all been linked with the left-sided central defender, who could end up leaving should a bid of €80m come in.
