The 2024 Premier League summer transfer window is now upon us.
After a disappointing January transfer window in which most teams were extremely reserved amid concerns over Financial Fair Play, the summer market is set to see record amounts of money thrown around again.
The likes of Jarrad Branthwaite, Michael Olise, Bruno Guimaraes, Pedro Neto and Ivan Toney have all been linked with big-money departures from their current clubs, while several huge names could be set to join the Premier League before the 2024-25 season begins.
Nigeria superstar Victor Osimhen will leave Napoli and could move to the Premier League, with Chelsea and Arsenal interested. The likes of Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres and Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo should also be followed closely this summer amidst Premier League interest. Kylian Mbappe is expected to move to the Santiago Bernabeu on a free transfer and his arrival could force Rodrygo to England.
Although the window is yet to officially open, summer business has already begun for several clubs in the Premier League, with Arsenal, Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton, Burnley, Newcastle, Tottenham and Wolves already sealing their first arrivals.
David Raya’s loan move from Brentford to Arsenal has been made permanent, while it is the same story with Lewis Hall at Newcastle (from Chelsea), Luis Sinisterra at Bournemouth (from Leeds), Mike Tresor at Burnley (from Genk) and Tommy Doyle at Wolves (from Man City).
Brentford have agreed a deal to sign Igor Thiago for a whopping €33m from Club Brugge as a possible Ivan Toney replacement, talented youngster Ibrahim Osman is heading to Brighton for €19.5m, and Tottenham have beaten Barcelona to Lucas Bergvall’s signature. The Sweden teenager will join Ange Postecoglou’s side for €10m.
In terms of departures, Thiago Silva leaves Chelsea on a free transfer after four brilliant years to join Fluminense. Remo Freuler will leave Nottingham Forest for Bologna on a permanent deal after a €4.5m fee was agreed. Felipe also announced his retirement from football at the end of the 2023-24 season.
