Although Erik ten Hag claims to have forgiven the winger following a very public falling out a year ago, the relationship between the two remains strained, according to the Transfers Podcast.

Man Utd have, therefore, been looking at ways that Sancho might be offloaded in the summer.

Chelsea, who would give them Raheem Sterling in return, are considered one option while Juventus had been another. Indeed, the Italian side had even seemed slightly ahead in the race for the England winger.

Gianluca Di Marzio, however, reports that Juve have fallen out of negotiations due to United’s demands for the player.

With the Chelsea deal more of a marriage of convenience, Man Utd are looking at other options for Sancho and, according to GiveMeSport, have offered the player to Borussia Dortmund, where he has previously enjoyed two spells.

This is said to be a “last-minute rescue package”, with United keen to get him off the books before the transfer deadline.

Sancho and Sterling swap deal: What’s going on?

What seemed like a fanciful rumour over a potential swap deal involving Man Utd’s Jadon Sancho and Raheem Sterling of Chelsea is genuinely being discussed, the Transfers Podcast revealed.

One of the reasons for this is that there are a “very limited” number of potential destinations for Sancho in the Premier League, while the Blues find themselves facing a similar situation with Sterling.

The feeling from both sides is that they might not reduce their wage bill, but at least it would help the finances of both clubs with respect to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules.

A deal actually going through, however, is considered to be “unlikely”.
