The 2024 summer transfer window has closed but several top-class players are still free agents.
Contracts in Europe run until the end of 30 June and with that date now long since passed, a host of stars find themselves unemployed.
Last summer, there were some huge free transfers – including Lionel Messi to Inter Miami and N’Golo Kante to Al-Ittihad – while this year may be no different.

Some of the game’s biggest players are now free agents and will therefore be able to move on Bosman deals.
Kylian Mbappe joined Real Madrid on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, while Toni Kroos was arguably the most high-profile player whose contract expired. However, he opted to retire from football following his Los Blancos exit.
Thiago Alcantara, released by Liverpool, went down the same path, hanging up his boots before taking up a coaching role in Hansi Flick’s Barcelona squad, which he has now left again.
Raphael Varane left Man Utd a year earlier than initially anticipated and joined Cesc Fabregas’ Serie A new boys Como on a Bosman. Barcelona captain Sergi Roberto did the same.
Another ex-Man Utd star, David de Gea, returned to football after a year away, signing for Fiorentina.
