Ruben Amorim will be Manchester United’s next manager, taking over from Erik ten Hag, who was sacked following a 2-1 Premier League loss to West Ham United.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that everything is in place for Amorim to take command at Old Trafford, but he may not actually arrive until the November international break as United and Sporting CP are struggling to reach terms on a compensation payment required to waive the coach’s 30-day notice period.

Everything else, however, seems to be in place for the 39-year-old to take the reins from interim boss Ruud van Vistelrooy, who led United to a 5-2 victory over Leicester in his first match in charge of the first team.

One unexpected bonus of Amorim arriving at Old Trafford is that he is set to command a smaller wage than Ten Hag, who finished his time in Manchester with the team languishing 14th in the Premier League standings.

How much will Amorim earn at Man Utd?

Ruben Amorim’s salary at Manchester United will be worth £6.5 million per year, according to a report from the Daily Mail.

With the Portuguese set to sign a deal that will stretch until June 2027, this will put the total value of Man Utd contract worth a little over £17m.

This compares with Erik ten Hag’s salary, which was positively lavish in comparison.

The former Ajax boss was on a deal that saw him earn an annual wage of £9m, according to reports.

With 20 months left of his deal, Ten Hag was due to earn £15m until the end of June 2026.

Amorim will cost only a shade more than that for a further 12 months – should he see out his contract at Man Utd, of course.
