Chelsea may have been handed a golden opportunity to sign one of the hottest prospects in the Bundesliga, according to reports.
Blues head coach Enzo Maresca recently admitted that Mykhailo Mudryk‘s omission against Liverpool last month was a ‘technical decision’ amid rumours that the winger could be sold in the future.
The Ukraine winger’s hopes of a fresh start under new Chelsea boss Maresca have quickly been dashed. Like former Chelsea head coaches Graham Potter and Mauricio Pochettino before him, the Italian has failed to unlock Mudryk so far for the most part, though he returned to action with arguably his best performance since his €70 million move from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Mudryk has been relegated to a rotational player and Maresca has been openly critical of his displays since joining the club. The manager was asked when Mudryk would finally live up to his potential and he replied: “When? I don’t know. We try to work with Misha every day and hopefully he can get better and better day by day with us.
“It’s more or less like Joao [Felix]; he is doing well. The thing is in the moment there are more players doing well. When they get the chance, they need to take it.”
Tel on loan
This week, news broke from Germany that Bayern Munich wonderkid Mathys Tel could be available on loan during the January transfer window and that Werder Bremen are a ‘serious’ option.
Florian Plettenberg wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “If Mathys #Tel becomes open to a loan in winter, he would be a serious option for Werder Bremen.”
“However, there has been no concrete approach from #Werder yet; they are waiting to see how the situation develops. Teams from the Premier League have also identified Tel as a potential target. Bayern is open to a winter loan, as recently revealed. For now, Tel wants to stay.”
Since Vincent Kompany’s arrival in Munich, the 19-year-old has struggled to find opportunities, playing only 224 minutes so far this season.
Last term, the teenager clocked 1,406 minutes of game time, adding 16 goal contributions in total, including ten goals. Tel was previously linked with a move to Manchester United but he certainly falls under Chelsea’s jurisdiction given his profile.
He can play on both sides of the flank and even as a centre-forward. Should Mudryk depart then you would expect that Tel would be a viable option for the Blues.
