Former VfL Bochum first-choice goalkeeper Manuel Riemann hasn’t played since he was suspended following incidents in the dressing room before his club’s relegation play-off games last season.

Marc Lettau, who made the decision, was relieved of his duties as sporting director alongside head coach Peter Zeidler in October.

And following the appointment of Dieter Hecking as head coach, speculation is mounting that Riemann could be recalled to the first-team squad.

According to Sport Bild, the likelihood of Riemann’s return is growing and a board meeting was recently held to discuss the matter.

Curiously, legal proceedings over his suspension are still ongoing at the Bochum labor court.

Patrick Drewes has been Bochum’s number one this season, with Timo Horn his backup.
