Forgotten Premier League striker scores a STUNNING volley for Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth in Championship clash with Watford

A forgotten Premier League striker scored a stunning goal to draw Wayne Rooney‘s plymouth level against Watford

Plymouth went into Friday’s night 18th in the Championship table and just a point adrift of the relegation zone.

And they got off to the worst start possible when Vakoun Issouf Bayo gave Watford the lead from close-range after just eight minutes.

The Pilgrims got on level terms on the 23rd minute through former hornets striker Andre Gray’s super volley.

Defener Lewis Gibson played a long ball and Gray watched the ball all the way before finding the bottom corner first time against his former club.

It was the 33-year-old’s second Championship goal of the season following his return to England this summer.

Gray left QPR after scoring 10 goals in 28 in the 2021-22 season to join Greek side Arid.

He then joined Saudi Pro League club Al-Riyadh and netted seven goals in 26 games before joining Plymouth.

Meanwhile, Rooney’s side went behind again against Watford four minutes before the breakthrough Ryan Porteous.
