The Charlotte FC youngster is regarded as one of the most exciting talents the United States has produced in recent years. Aged just 16, Berchimas already has three senior appearances for the MLS side under his belt.

The forward regularly features for the club’s MLS Next Pro side Crown Legacy FC as well as the United States U20 national team. Berchimas made his first-team debut in February in a 1-0 victory over New York City FC, becoming the 10th youngest debutant in MLS history.

His exploits at the youth level as well as his first experiences in senior football have made him one of the most sought-after commodities in the game. Already in 2022, the teenager had a trial with Bayern Munich.

Now, he is set to link up with Man Utd.

Berchimas to trial at Man Utd

At least that is according to GIVEMESPORT, which reports that Berchimas will train with the Red Devils next week, with the club also having an interest in potentially signing him permanently down the line.

The report states that this was a decision driven by the new INEOS sporting hierarchy and the decision to invite Berchimas predates Ruben Amorim’s arrival as head coach.

Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s investment, Man Utd have made it their mission to become much more involved in youth recruitment, both for the academy and the first team.

Most prominently, of course, the club snapped up Arsenal striker Chido Obi-Martin earlier this year, who has enjoyed a spectacular start to life for the U18s.

It remains to be seen if Berchimas can impress enough to convince Man Utd to make a permanent move. However, the player won’t be able to join the club until he turns 18 in 2026. The Burundi-born attacker turns 17 in February.
