Manchester City have identified Paul Pogba as a midfield addition as the club continues their poor form this season.
The Independent have affirmed the story that was initially revealed by L’Equipe, saying that the Frenchman is a is a target for the Premier League champions.
It’s thought that Pep Guardiola is keen to bring in January reinforcements and paper over the cracks left by Rodri, who sustained a season-ending ACL injury. The club have just won a single game in their last 10 games in all competitions, losing seven of those matches.

Pogba has been out of action with a ban but the 31-year-old will be able to return to playing in March. He has is initial four-year doping ban was reduced to just eight months.
However, the outlet states that Pogba is concerned about returning to Manchester after his previous experiences with their rivals Manchester United.
He had two spells at Old Trafford, with Juventus either side. But it was the second of those tenures that ended in tears.
The Independent stated: “The player’s mixed experiences in Manchester have nevertheless left him reluctant to return, and he is said to have reservations about going back to England at all.
“Pogba does want to play at the highest level again, with current preferences of La Liga, Serie A and the Bundesliga.”
Juventus officially terminated his contract last month. In 2023, the former Manchester United midfielder was found to have had elevated levels of testosterone and he was subsequently banned from football.
Pogba, therefore, is able to return to training in January and he will be available to feature in competitive games again in March.
Following his ban, the Bianconeri slashed Pogba’s salary and there were already reports that they would cut ties with him. It ultimately took until the reduction of his ban, but the Serie A side have now terminated his contract.
Pogba’s Juventus nightmare and next move
Pogba returned to Juventus as a free agent in 2022 but even before his ban, his second stint at the club was nothing short of a nightmare. Injuries limited him to just a handful of appearances in his first season and things quickly took a turn for the worse in his second.
Free agency will allow Pogba to freely choose his next club and the 2018 World Cup winner has no intention of hanging up his boots just yet.
Sky Sports previously reported that the midfielder has interest from England, the Saudi Pro League and Major League Soccer. It remains to be seen where Pogba will continue his career. He is currently keeping himself fit in Miami.
