Cristiano Ronaldo believes that Ruben Amorim can tame the ‘different beast’ that is the Premier League, with Manchester United beginning to kickstart their January business to get out of their slump.
It hasn’t been a happy festive period for the Red Devils by any stretch of the imagination. Since surprisingly beating Man City, Man Utd have suffered three consecutive defeats, crashing out of the Carabao Cup against Tottenham and dropping down to 14th in the Premier League table.
In the previous two games, Man Utd embarrassingly lost 3-0 to Bournemouth and 2-0 to Wolves, respectively, and set an unwanted record in the process.

Ruben Amorim’s first month and a half in charge of the Old Trafford club has been anything but smooth sailing. Still, he retains the backing of influential figures, including club legend Cristiano Ronaldo.
Speaking at the Globe Soccer Awards, CR7 said: “He [Amorim] did a fantastic job in Portugal with my old club, Sporting CP. But, the Premier League is a different beast, it’s the most competitive league in the world.
“I knew it would be tough and they will continue in the storm. But the storm will finish and the sun will rise. Fingers crossed, it will be good for him, and I wish the best for Manchester United because it is a club I still love.”

Man Utd make Mendes bid
Ronaldo also continued his feud with Ligue 1, which he kicked off at the previous iteration of the award by claiming that the Saudi Pro League had a higher standard of play than the French top flight.
“[The] Saudi League is better than Ligue 1, of course. France only has Paris Saint-Germain. The rest are finished,” he is quoted as having stated again on Friday. In light of his comments about Man Utd, perhaps this was intentional.

Ronaldo’s statement comes amid claims that Man Utd have made an offer for his international teammate and PSG star Nuno Mendes. RMC claims that the Red Devils have submitted a bid and are exerting ‘pressure’ on the left-back, to which he is ‘not indifferent.’
PSG had been in negotiations over a new contract for the 22-year-old but it had already previously been claimed that he was holding off on putting pen to paper due to the interest from Man Utd.
The above-mentioned report confirms that contract talks are now at a standstill in what can only be a boon for the Red Devils.
