Galatasaray look set to beat hated rivals Fenerbahce to the signing of Oleksandr Zinchenko, according to Turkish media.

The Arsenal full-back appears to be on his way out of north London after struggling for fitness and game time this season. Zinchenko has barely featured under Mikel Arteta in the Premier League this term as his influence has continued to wane.

Once a key player, Zinchenko is now nothing more than a squad option, with Arsenal’s side having evolved beyond the need for the Ukraine international.

Given his lack of minutes, speculation surrounding the former Man City man has increased in recent times. Last week, it was claimed that Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho was set to make a move for Zinchenko as he is in need of a reliable centre-back.

Galatasaray to sign Zinchenko?

However, if recent reports coming out of Istanbul are to be believed, it seems as though Fenerbahce will be beaten to Zinchenko’s signing by their high-flying hated rivals Galatasaray.

Already in the summer, after pipping Fenerbahce to the Super Lig title in astonishing fashion, Galatasaray pulled off one of the biggest coups in Turkish football history when they secured the signing of Victor Osimhen.

It was a move that massively frustrated Fenerbahce supporters and the way Mourinho’s first season in charge has gone has done little to ease the tensions in the club and the fanbase.

Fenerbahce currently find themselves a whopping 11 points behind Galatasaray and A Spor triumphantly proclaims that ‘Arsenal‘s star is coming,’ referring to Zinchenko.

Galatasaray, it is claimed, will launch an approach for the Ukrainian that will blow Fenerbahce out of the water and leave them once more frustrated.

Should Galatasaray somehow fail to convince Arsenal to sell in January, then the Turkish giants would launch another offensive for him in the summer.
