Barcelona‘s desire to sign Marcus Rashford imminently is reportedly fuelled by two key reasons.
Mail Sport reported earlier this month that Barca have held meetings with Rashford’s entourage, with a flock of European admirers courting the wantaway Manchester United man.
Rashford issued a come-and-get-me plea in December when he admitted he is ‘ready for a new challenge’ in a bombshell interview with Henry Winter.
Barcelona are understood to have always been Rashford’s preference but given his £350,000-per-week wages, they would need to negotiate over the financial burden of a loan deal.
The Catalan giants are said to be particularly keen to wrap up a deal quickly because they feel Borussia Dortmund could swoop in and land him, as per SPORT.
Barca boss Hansi Flick is also said to be a big admirer of Rashford by the Spanish outlet.

However, Ansu Fati would reportedly have to make way to create room for Rashford to come in.
The young winger has only started one game all season and his route to the first team looks difficult.
Last season he was sent on loan to Brighton and Barca will have to find some way to remove him from the squad to accommodate Rashford.
However, the 22-year-old is keen to stay with the Blaugrana.
Dortmund themselves are looking to turn around their season urgently as they have slipped to 10th in the Bundesliga table.
German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung has suggested that manager Nuri Sahin – who used to play for Liverpool – could be sacked before their Champions League trip to Bologna on Tuesday.
Other reports have claimed that that match is a must-win for Sahin to save his job.
Last season, Dortmund secured a short-term loan for Jadon Sancho after he, similarly, fell out of favour with Red Devils chiefs.
Borussia Dortmund, who loaned in Jadon Sancho last season, are also keen on Rashford
The Red Devils also paid a portion of his wages to make the move financially viable.
Rashford’s brother and agent Dwaine Maynard has held talks with officials from Juventus and also spoke with Borussia Dortmund executives.
United’s preference is believed to be a permanent departure for Rashford in a £40m deal rather than a loan.
Mail Sport previously revealed that Tottenham are among the clubs to hold an interest in Rashford as well.
