Manchester United have reignited their interest in Chelsea striker Christopher Nkunku, according to reliable reports.

The Frenchman remains determined to find a solution for his lack of minutes before Deadline Day on February 3. Nkunku is frustrated with his role at Chelsea and is keen to leave the club this month.

Over the past couple of weeks, the Blues have been locked in talks with Bayern Munich over a transfer of Nkunku, with the Bundesliga giants expressing their interest in the 27-year-old after their west London counterparts enquired about the availability of Mathys Tel.

However, Tel has so far shown no indication that he wants to leave Munich and this is making a deal difficult, especially as Chelsea are demanding a whopping €70 million for Nkunku.

Ahead of the January window, Man Utd were also said to be considering a move for Nkunku and it appears as though the Red Devils have not forgotten about him.

Man Utd want Nkunku

According to Sky Sports and ESPN, Man Utd have reignited their interest in the France international, although they are also baulking at his €70m price tag so far.

It is claimed that intermediaries have discussed a potential transfer, with Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim desperate for reinforcements this month – a mission made all the more difficult by the club’s Profit and Sustainability concerns.

As things stand, a move to Old Trafford appears unlikely at €70m. However, Chelsea are, of course, also in talks with Man Utd over winger Alejandro Garnacho, who is valued at exactly the same figure by the Manchester club.

It remains to be seen if there is scope for a potential swap deal. It may not be entirely in Man Utd’s interest given that they need to actually raise funds – and since they are not actively looking to get rid of Garnacho – but Chelsea are said to be determined and confident of landing the Argentine.
