“It was a pretty complete game until the 80th minute,” Kompany said, assessing his team’s effort. “But we also played against a team that was fighting for every moment. I thought we started the second half really well, but in terms of how we finished the game, that’s something we’ll have to review with the players.”

One of the key concerns for Bayern in recent weeks has been their defensive record, having conceded ten goals in the last five matches. Kompany acknowledged the issue while remaining optimistic about the team’s ability to address it. “In the past couple of weeks, we had some really good moments but also moments we need to improve. That’s our job. Now we finally have an entire week where we can train. We’re in a good position to do the work.”

Kompany also took a moment to praise Harry Kane, who netted his 54th, and 55th Bundesliga goals today.

Having both played against and now coached the England striker. “He has incredible qualities in terms of scoring goals,” said Kompany.

“I was often asked what was wrong with Harry when he didn’t score – he’s always stayed calm, worked hard, and believed in his moments. I played against Harry and am now his coach; he’s just impressive.”

Kompany now looks ahead to a crucial two-week period, involving a clash of titans at the top end of the Bundesliga against Bayer Leverkusen, and a Champions League playoff against Celtic. However first, attentions turn to Werder Bremen on Friday evening.
