Roma and Lazio won’t play a Rome Derby in the Europa League Round of 16 as the Biancocelesti have been drawn with Viktoria Plzen, while the Giallorossi will play Athletic Club.
Roma and Lazio have avoided a Europa League derby in the Round of 16.
Europa League Round of 16 draw: Roma and Lazio avoid derby
The draw for the last-16, quarter-finals and semifinals took place in Nyon on Friday.
There was a chance to see a Rome derby in the next round, but the Biancocelesti, who won the league phase, were paired with Viktoria Plzen. Theirr city rivals will play one of the favourites to win the competition: Athletic Club.
Roma and Lazio have also been placed on the opposite sides of the bracket.
The Giallorossi qualified for the Europa League Round of 16 following a 3-2 win over Porto on Thursday.
Claudio Ranieri’s men secured a 4-3 win on aggregate.
The Champions League Round of 16 draw unfolded before the Europa League one and saw Inter paired with Dutch side Feyenoord.
