Leverkusen await Wirtz’s decision on future

However, the story was since denied by the club, and there has been no announcement regarding the 21-year-old’s future.

The situation now, according to Kicker, is that the parties have essentially agreed the terms of a new deal, with the ball now in Wirtz’s court.

According to the report, Die Werkself are waiting for a green light from the Germany international, who has yet to make a final decision on his future.

It is also claimed that Wirtz doesn’t want to make his decision dependent on the future of head coach Xabi Alonso, who is being linked with Real Madrid.

Wirtz, who is currently sidelined with an injury, is being courted by virtually all of Europe’s top clubs. He has scored 15 goals and laid on 13 assists in 39 appearances for Leverkusen this season.
