Werder Bremen will have to let Oliver Burke leave on a free transfer at the end of the season, according to Deichstube, a Bremen-based publication that closely follows the club.

The report states that Burke has decided to join Union Berlin when his contract expires this summer, and that he has completed a medical ahead of a move to the German capital club.

Burke had previously expressed his willingness to stay at Werder Bremen.

However, reports recently claimed that the Scottish striker had turned down two contract offers from the club due to dissatisfaction with the salary offered.

Burke, 28, has become increasingly important for the Green-Whites as the season has progressed.

He has started the last seven matches and scored three goals in his past three appearances.
