Bologna have reportedly agreed to snap up Universidad Catolica goalkeeper Thomas Gillier as a free agent, loaning him to MLS club Montreal Impact.

According to South American transfer pundit Cesar Luis Merlo, the deal is already in place for the two connected clubs.

Gillier is a product of the Universidad Catolica youth academy and he is currently out of action with a knee injury.

His contract is due to expire in December 2025, so Bologna have already lined him up as a free agent with a contract to June 2030, plus an option for a further year.

When he does become available in January 2026, he will first be sent out on loan to Major League Soccer side Montreal Impact.

Both the Canadian club and Serie A team are owned by the same man, Joey Saputo.

Gillier turns 21 next month and has dual Chilean and French citizenship, which should make a move to Serie A easier as an EU player.

He has three caps for Chile at Under-21 level and has been called up to the senior squad.
