Premier League star Morgan Gibbs-White – on £80,000-a-week – was forced to sit on the train floor during a trip to London. The England international had to make do as there were no seats available.

Accompanied by his girlfriend Britney De Villiers, the pair made the hour and a half journey down to the capital. Law graduate Britney claimed that the train was in fact overbooked meaning their last minute decision left them without a seat.

The 25-year-old had been in the capital for Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 loss in the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

The duo, who have been together since 2019 and have a son together, then returned on Monday to spend the day touring the sights, shopping and eating fancy food.

In the evening the duo visited Sumosan Twiga on Sloane Street, Knightsbridge. Despite paying £49 for the black cod main and £13 for a side of chips, Britney only gave the food ‘a six out of ten’.

“I’d give the food a six out of ten, it wasn’t that amazing. Chips were too saucy but I did like the black cod, that was really good.”

Whilst in the capital the pair went on an ‘overpriced’ bike trip, where a man pedalled them around the city. The 25-year-old from South Africa, said: “We woke up and decided to take a last minute trip to London. Because we didn’t pre book the train, the train was overbooked and there were no seats.

“So we just had to chill out in this area, Morgan was on the floor and I got to sit on the suitcase so that I wasn’t touching the floor. Love that from him. If you’re in London you have to try out one of these bicycle rides. They’re definitely way overpriced but they’re so fun.”

Gibbs-White is estimated to be worth £42million. He has been capped twice by the Three Lions. The midfielder is pushing for Champions League qualification with Forest by finishing in the top five.

It’s been a superb season for Gibbs-White, who has five goals and seven assists to boost Forest’s chances of claiming a place in Europe’s elite.

The team are currently sixth in the Premier League table, level on points with fifth-placed Chelsea, but have a game in hand over their rivals with five matches left to play.

Gibbs-White’s performances this season have led to speculation he could join Manchester City in the summer, but for now he is focused on the task of helping Forest qualify for the Champions League after losing to Pep Guardiola’s team at Wembley.

“Your support was the best I’ve ever seen,” he said. “Sorry we couldn’t get the job done. Five more finals to go.”
