Inter stars rush return against Lazio as Scudetto dream alive with 1 point gap

Inter could have Lautaro Martinez, Benjamin Pavard, Davide Frattesi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan back in the squad for their Serie A clash with Lazio.

The Nerazzurri had left the quartet out of their trip to Torino last week, as it was just days after the extra time 4-3 Champions League semi-final victory over Barcelona.

Nonetheless, they emerged 2-0 winners, and with Napoli held to a 2-2 draw by Genoa, have closed the gap at the top of the Serie A table to just one point.

Inter dream of the Double is back in business

With the Scudetto suddenly possible again, Simone Inzaghi is now more eager to get his stars back in business without waiting for the Champions League Final against Paris Saint-Germain on May 31.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Lautaro Martinez, Pavard, Frattesi and Mkhitaryan all did personalised training today, but are expected to rejoin the main squad to work from Thursday.

This means they should be available to play and potentially even start the showdown with Lazio on Sunday evening, although coach Simone Inzaghi is being a little more cautious with Lautaro Martinez.

Denzel Dumfries had the day off to take care of a personal matter.

Lazio will be without suspended Mattia Zaccagni and Luca Pellegrini, while Patric is injured and Nuno Tavares a major doubt.
