Roy Keane has launched another furious rant at Manchester United and expressed his sympathy for Ruben Amorim.

United have endured a dismal campaign and are languishing 17th place in the Premier League after 17 defeats in 36 games.

The Red Devils have reached several nadirs over recent months and have even lost nine times at Old Trafford.

Despite Ruben Amorim replacing Erik ten Hag in November, things have failed to improve, with the former Sporting Lisbon boss taking just 24 points from 26 league matches in charge and United are set for their worst ever Premier League season.

And Keane, who has regularly criticised United in 2024-25, claimed Amorim’s ‘head must be spinning’ given what he has experienced during his first six months in England.

‘The manager is a very likeable guy,’ Keane said on Sky Sports ahead of United’s clash against Chelsea on Friday.

‘He’s very honest, he seems to be their biggest critic but I reckon his head must be spinning.

‘I bet he can’t wait until the summer. It’s going to be a big summer but we’ve said that for the last few summers.

‘Recruitment is key, getting the right players and characters in and getting rid of others.

‘But he’ll be glad to see the back of this team. His head must have been spinning from day one. He’ll have expected a lot more.’

Keane then went onto repeat his recent criticism of United’s inability to only focus on one competition.

During their run to the Europa League final, the Red Devils’ Premier League form has nose-dived and they have picked up only two points in their past seven games.

‘It’s not good [messaging],’ Keane added. ‘So many games they’ve written off and said “no we’ll focus on next week”.

‘I’ve never heard so much chat from a club about next week’s game. What about the game today?

‘It’s not on this manager’s watch but they’ve lost 17 league games. They lost 14 last year so it’s not a difficult few months they’re having – this has been going on since last season.

‘This group don’t know how to compete week in week out. When you’re playing for the big clubs, there’s a reason, but you (have to) turn up week in week out, that’s a sign of a great player.’

Keane continued: ‘But every week I look at these players and they don’t know how to compete, (or reach) the demands of playing for Man United.

‘To lose that many games this year you could write that off, but it’s on the back of 14 defeats last season. They’ve got into bad habits.’
