Reports have suggested that Mainz forward Jonathan Burkardt could leave the club via a release clause.

However, sporting director Niko Bungert has firmly denied those claims.

“No,” he told Kicker when asked whether the 24-year-old has such a clause in his contract.

“We are in control of all personnel matters and decide what happens and what doesn’t,” Bungert emphasized.

Burkardt has reportedly attracted interest from a number of top clubs, including Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich, and several Premier League sides.

His contract with Mainz runs until 2027.
