Man City in concrete talks to sign BVB’s January target

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are keen on beating Borussia Dortmund for the signing of the new French international.

Rayan Cherki was close to joining Borussia Dortmund in January, but Olympique Lyonnais refused to accept their late offer. The sought-after midfielder is now edging closer to a move to a Premier League club.

Alongside AC Milan’s central midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, Manchester City plan to strengthen themselves with the signing of the 21-year-old before the start of the Club World Cup.

Foot Mercato’s Santi Aouna already reported that the deal is at the closing stage for €40 million. Sky’s Patrick Berger now adds that the player is open to working with Pep Guardiola after a failed transfer to the Bundesliga club in January.

BVB haven’t made any attempt to continue talks after the disappointing snub in the previous transfer market. Cherki will play for the French national team for the first time in next week’s UEFA Nations League, where there is a possibility to face the hosts Germany in the final.
