Tottenham confirm decision not to sign Werner permanently
By Eskender Tamrat@eskeFussball

As expected, Tottenham Hotspur decided not to use their buying option for the former German international.

Timo Werner will initially return to RB Leipzig after Tottenham Hotspur refused to exercise the clause to sign him on a permanent deal. The Champions League winner with Chelsea added another European title with Spurs, but he wasn’t part of the squad for the Europa League knockout stages.

In his time at North London, Werner only scored three goals in 41 matches. He has a contract with Leipzig until the end of next season, but the Saxon club will hope to offload the striker this summer.

According to Sky, Werner’s salary is €10 million gross per year. As of right now, MLS seems a potential destination for the 29-year-old. Spurs are also yet to decide on Mathy Tel’s future as they’re not willing to sign him permanently unless Bayern Munich reduce their asking price.
