Leverkusen turn down second Liverpool offer for Wirtz

Kicker reports that Bayer Leverkusen have rejected a second offer from Liverpool for Florian Wirtz.

Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz is reportedly keen on a move to Liverpool, but remains in a holding pattern as the two clubs continue to negotiate over the transfer fee.

According to Kicker, Leverkusen have already turned down two offers from the Premier League side for the 22-year-old.

Liverpool first submitted a bid worth €100 million plus €15 million in bonuses, followed by a second offer of €118 million plus €12 million in add-ons – bringing the total package to €130 million.

However, that still falls short of Leverkusen’s valuation. Club CEO Fernando Carro has previously stated that Wirtz would not be sold for less than €150 million, but later described this as a mistake because the figure might have been too low

To close the gap, two potential models are under discussion.

One would see the two clubs continue financial negotiations in hopes of reaching a compromise.

The other would involve including a Liverpool player in the deal, heading to Leverkusen as part of the package. As reported by Sky Germany and Kicker, Harvey Elliott is a candidate. However, it remains uncertain whether Liverpool – or the 22-year-old himself – would agree to this.
