Heaton to extend Man Utd stay

Manchester United goalkeeper Tom Heaton is set to extend his contract with the club for another campaign, according to The Sun.

The 39-year-old rejoined the Red Devils on a free transfer in the summer of 2021. He has been the third-choice goalkeeper in recent seasons.

Heaton has now ‘verbally agreed’ terms over a renewal. His current deal expires on June 30 and will be extended for another 12 months.

An announcement is expected in due course. The club graduate will rejoin the squad in pre-season training before the first friendly against Leeds United.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils are not contemplating a new first-choice goalkeeper, but the decision could change over the coming weeks.

Andre Onana has been the subject of interest from Saudi clubs in the past. If there is a genuine offer, United could decide to cash in on him.

United will demand at least £40 million for the Cameroonian star. Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens could be signed to replace him.
