Goals from Francesco Pio Esposito and Alessandro Bastoni allowed Inter to beat River Plate and qualify for the Club World Cup Round of 16 as group winners.
Inter beat River Plate 2-0 in their third and final group stage game at the Club World Cup on Wednesday.
Bastoni and Pio Esposito scored the goals in the second half, setting up a Round of 16 tie against Fluminense at the Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, on Monday, June 13 at 15:00 local time, 21:00 CET.
Inter’s win over River Plate eliminated the Argentineans, as Monterrey’s victory over Urawa Reds qualified the Mexican side.
