Nottingham Forest have decided to pull out of their double deal for Juventus forwards Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Reds are trying to be ambitious in the market after qualifying for European football, and they are in talks over several deals simultaneously. In recent times, Forest have shown a tendency to do business with clubs for multiple players at once.
Last year, Moussa Niakhate and Orel Mangala were both sold to Lyon, and Forest have again been in talks with the Ligue 1 side over a double deal, this time for goalkeeper Matt Turner and defender Danilo. Whether these moves will materialise after Lyon’s relegation remains to be seen.
On the incoming front, too, Forest seemingly like to place bulk orders as they have been in negotiations with Botafogo for Jair Cunha, Igor Jesus and Cuibano, with agreements for the first two already in place.
More recently, there have been discussions with Juventus for Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula, but the Premier League side have now decided to pull the plug on the deal.
Forest end Weah, Mbangula pursuit
On Friday, Ben Jacobs revealed that Forest had ended their pursuit of USMNT winger Weah after ‘extensive data analysis,’ with Fabrizio Romano now confirming that a move for Mbangula has also collapsed.
The transfer insider states that Forest pulled out as they were left unconvinced by the ‘current conditions of the deal.’ Juventus were keen to sell as they need the money, but no deal will now be forthcoming.

From the players’ point of view, this appears to be good news as neither really appeared keen on a move to the City Ground. Both shared cryptic Instagram stories after Juventus dropped them for their Club World Cup game against Man City to allegedly pressure them into leaving.
Weah’s agent, Badou Sambague, has even hit out at Juventus. “It’s a disgrace,” he thundered. “Weah is a fantastic player and a fantastic teammate. To see people acting like this for money and because they are selfish has disappointed me a lot.
“Anyway, while I’m here, nobody will push one of the players I advise to go on the right or on the left like a puppet. I am happy that Tim has a top education and a top personality that allows him to stay focused on the game.”
