Fiorentina aiming for McAtee bargain from Manchester City at under 20m

Fiorentina are reportedly hoping to swoop for Manchester City attacking midfielder James McAtee, believing they can get a deal done for under €20m.

According to La Nazione newspaper, via Tuttomercatoweb, the groundwork was already done in 2024 with an initial approach for a potential January move.

Now they are back in for the player, as his contract with Manchester City only runs to June 2026.

McAtee wants more playing time

A product of their youth academy, he had loan spells with Sheffield United, and this season only made 27 competitive appearances for City, still contributing an impressive seven goals.

He also did well in the European Under-21 Championship, part of the England squad that beat Germany 3-2 in extra time during last night’s Final, playing in every game with one goal and two assists.

Because the contract is running down, and Pep Guardiola does not seem eager to keep him around, Fiorentina hope they can get a deal completed for under €20m.

There had already been talk of Milan interest, but they seem to be looking elsewhere.
