Official: Como sign Jesus Rodrigues in club-record deal from Real Betis

Como have officially announced the signing of talented 19-year-old Jesus Rodriguez in a permanent deal from LaLiga outfit Real Betis in what is understood to be a club-record deal for the ambitious Serie A side. 

Como have confirmed the signing of Jesus Rodriguez for an undisclosed fee, but reports from various outlets including Sky Sport Italia claim that the deal is worth up to €27m, made up of a €22m guaranteed fee and €5m in bonuses and add-ons. 

Jesus Rodriguez has put pen to paper on a five-year contract, which will see him through until the summer of 2030, at which stage he will be 24 years of age. 

He becomes Como’s second signing of the summer, and his arrival is the second time that Como have broken their club record fee this summer, following the earlier arrival of Martin Baturina for a fee of €17m plus €8m in bonuses. 

“I’m truly happy to be here and to be part of such an ambitious project. I’ve arrived with great enthusiasm, eager to grow and give my all for the team in pursuit of important goals,” Jesus Rodriguez said in a statement on the Como club website. 

“I feel highly motivated and determined. My first impression was very positive. I received a warm welcome from everyone at the club. Como is a beautiful city, and I hope to experience it to the fullest, both on and off the pitch.”

What Como and Fabregas said about Jesus Rodriguez

“Como 1907 is pleased to confirm the signing of Spanish winger Jesús Rodríguez from Real Betis. The 19-year-old joins the club on a permanent deal until June 2030 following an agreement between the two sides,” Como’s official statement read.  

“Rodríguez made 32 appearances in La Liga last season and featured prominently for Spain’s U21 side. Known for his speed, flair, and direct attacking play, he arrives at Como having already played in a major European final and is widely regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in Spanish football.”

Head coach Cesc Fabregas added: “Jesús is exactly the type of player we need at Como — fearless, direct, and full of energy. He has that natural flair to break lines and take defenders on. As with everything here, it’s about more than talent — it’s about character. 

“We’re building a family, a team that presses, dominates possession, and thinks forward. Jesús already has top-level experience for someone so young, and I can’t wait to start working with him.”

Jesus Rodriguez is the second teenage winger that Como have signed from Real Betis over the last six months, having also brought in Assane Diao in January. He went on to net an impressive eight goals from his first 15 Serie A appearances in the second half of the 2024-25 season.
