McAtee set for Nottingham Forest move

22-year-old winger James McAtee is set for a move to Nottingham Forest after Man City agreed to let the player leave the club. Manager Pep Guardiola has decided that the England under-21 international is now surplus to requirements and that the Salford-born youngster is free to leave in search of regular first-team football.

Despite having forced his way into Guardiola’s side last season, scoring three goals in 15 top flight experiences, Guardiola has decided that McAtee can depart and Nottingham Forest are now set to move for the player, who will likely replace Morgan Gibbs-White.

The forward also spent time at Sheffield United for two years on loan, but Forest will have money to spend having let Anthony Elanga and Gibbs-White depart the club.

Forest are expected to pay around £18 million for the versatile forward, and the star will be given a long-term contract at the City Ground.

Forest are leading the way to sign the player, but there is also a chance of late interest from abroad, as Turkish club Galatasaray are said to be in the race.
