Exclusive: Indirect talks between Milan and Juventus for Vlahovic underway – Football Italia

Over the last few hours, the first real contact between Milan and Juventus in talks for Bianconeri striker Dusan Vlahhovic have got underway, Football Italia understands. 

Milan and Juventus indirect talks for Vlahovic underway

The first genuine talks are now underway – indirectly – given that Milan are currently out on tour in Asia, while Juventus have been busy formalising other matters, including Federico Gatti’s contract extension and the sale of Samuel Mbangula to Werder Bremen. 

There are several points that need to be made clear when it comes to a potential sale of Vlahovic to Milan, though. 

Firstly, it is clear that Massimiliano Allegri actively wants the Serbian, his former colleague, on board. 

Secondly, it is clear that Vlahovic is keen on the idea of moving to San Siro. 

Thirdly, the severance pay that Juventus will have to pay Vlahovic if he accepts a pay cut in order to join Milan is crucial. 

Finally, spreading the cost of the €12m salary that Vlahovic is owed for the final year of his Juventus contract in 2025-26 is a genuine possibility if discussions around the severance pay go well. 

Vlahovic has already turned down offers from elsewhere this transfer window, including approaches from the Turkish Super Lig. 

As things stand, Milan will have to offer a transfer fee in the region of €18m-€20m and no less. Juventus consider this a fair request for an experienced 25-year-old centre-forward, who cost €70m three and a half years ago. 

Milan have expressed their desire to make a move for Vlahovic and hope to reach a full agreement with the Old Lady. 

The situation could change if another club comes in towards the end of the transfer window, if Vlahovic expresses a preference in joining them over Milan. 

For now, however, this is the situation. There are still some obstacles to overcome and some hoops to jump through for Milan, but the talks are now underway.
