Reports on Wednesday evening claim that Besiktas are close to dropping their pursuit of Milan right-back Emerson Royal after a last-minute hijack from Brazilian Serie A outfit CR Flamengo.

According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, Flamengo are attempting a last-minute hijack to sign Emerson Royal from Milan, despite the Brazilian being on the verge of a final agreement with Besiktas, who had already pencilled in a date for a medical for the former Tottenham defender.

As a result, Besiktas are reportedly ready to walk away from their deal with Milan. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side had been prepared to pay a fee to take Emerson on loan for the 2025-26 season, and include an option to buy in their deal with the Rossoneri.

Milan, meanwhile, are reportedly prepared to advance in negotiations with Flamengo, despite their previous dealings with Besiktas.

Emerson joined Milan just over a year ago, signing a four-year contract with an option for an additional 12 months.

The Rossoneri paid a fee of €15m plus up to €2m in bonuses to sign the Brazilian from Tottenham Hotspur.
