Liverpool out to RUIN Man Utd’s Sesko plan: Record bid could change everything

Manchester United have put Benjamin Sesko at the top of their striker shortlist, but the Red Devils’ hopes of landing the RB Leipzig ace hang in the balance due to arch-rivals Liverpool.

Competition is expected to be fierce for the Slovenia international forward, who has had a €70 million asking price slapped on him by the Bundesliga club.

Liverpool may not have any direct interest in Sesko, but should Arne Slot’s side land Alexander Isak from Newcastle United, the landscape around the No.9 would shift dramatically. Indeed, so much about this deal hinges on what the Magpies do with the Sweden international.

Man Utd face nervy Sesko wait

Although Sesko has expressed an interest in moving to Man Utd, Newcastle should not be ruled out in this race, according to transfer expert Ben Jacobs on the United Stand.

He says that if Newcastle sell Isak, they would then be in a position to launch a higher bid for Sesko. In this case, Man Utd would then have to match this offer or face problems.

The Magpies would be furnished with a record fee if Isak leaves the club. Their asking price for the player is €170 million, with Liverpool having shown a willingness to go big this summer. In addition, the striker is pushing for the move, going so far as to travel to San Sebastian in Spain to train using Real Sociedad’s facilities. He has, quite literally, distanced himself from Newcastle.

Sesko, meanwhile, has an agreement with RB Leipzig that he will be able to leave this summer with any team that he considers to be ‘special’. It remains to be seen how this agreement would hold if Man Utd, a side he puts into this category, were to be significantly outbid.

Certainly, it is a position that the Red Devils don’t want to find themselves in, but they could well be thrust there by Liverpool if they sign Isak.
