Ex-Serie A star has high De Bruyne expectations but ‘don’t understand’ Mourinho

Former Serie A star Vladimir Jugovic, a 1996 Champions League winner with Juventus, has high expectations of Kevin De Bruyne but still ‘don’t understand’ why José Mourinho didn’t believe in the Belgian star at Chelsea.

Jugovic discussed the latest transfer rumours regarding Juventus in an interview with Gazzetta, but also spoke about one of his ex-teammates in Turin, Antonio Conte.

“If Antonio stayed at Napoli, it’s because he believes he can win again,” said Jugovic.

“The signing of De Bruyne changes the balance. We are talking about a Manchester City icon, one of the best teams in the world in recent years. What I still don’t understand about De Bruyne is why Mourinho didn’t believe in him at Chelsea.”

Jugovic opens up about Modric’s Milan transfer

De Bruyne joined Napoli on a free transfer after the end of his contract at Manchester City and has already begun pre-season preparations under the Italian tactician.

Luka Modrić is another star who moved to Serie A this summer, completing a free transfer to Milan.

“Back in the Berlusconi era, Modric would have arrived at 20 or 21, but it will still be interesting to see a highly decorated champion like the former Real Madrid star in Serie A,” Jugovic concluded.
