Lyon have completed the signing of midfielder Tyler Morton from Liverpool for a £15million fee.

The England U21 international has been looking to move for more regular first team game time and had attracted enquiries from a number of clubs including West Ham , Sporting Braga, Ajax and Strasbourg.

Liverpool were holding out for £15m for the 22-year old academy graduate, which the Ligue 1 side have met to bring him to the club.

Morton spent the 2023-24 campaign on loan at Championship side Hull City .

The 22-year-old returned to Merseyside last season but could only manage six appearances in all competitions as Arne Slot led the club to Premier League glory in his maiden campaign in charge.

Morton joins a Lyon side that were demoted to Ligue 2 earlier this summer due to their poor finances but their position in the French top flight was restored after appeal.

The midfielder becomes the fourth major academy product to leave the Anfield club this summer, following the exits of Jarell Quansah, Caoimhin Kelleher and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Premier League champions have recouped almost £80m from the sales, which are essential in ensuring their abide by the top flight’s profit and sustainability rules, given the huge outlays on additions to the squad this summer.
