Arsenal were reportedly among the clubs interested in a potential deal for Manchester United outcast Alejandro Garnacho earlier this summer.
The Argentina international has been told to find a new club by Ruben Amorim, following the pair’s public bust-up after the Europa League final, and he is expected to complete a move to Chelsea before the end of Transfer Deadline Day.
Enzo Maresca’s side have reached a full agreement on personal terms with Garnacho and they are now locked in advanced negotiations with Man Utd over a potential transfer fee.
The reigning Club World Cup champions currently value Garnacho at roughly €35 million and although Man Utd are demanding close to €60m for the 21-year-old, Chelsea are confident the Red Devils will lower their asking price during the final few days of the summer transfer window.
Garnacho has been forced to train away from the senior Man Utd squad during pre-season and he is reportedly even willing to sit on the sidelines for the entire 2025-26 campaign if it enables him to join Chelsea next year.
The Blues have already signed Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens so far this summer, but they are eager to add another option on the left flank following the termination of Jadon Sancho’s loan deal and Mykhailo Mudryk’s ongoing doping suspension.
Arsenal reject Alejandro Garnacho
Several other clubs were also interested in a possible deal for Garnacho during the early stages of the summer window, but they ultimately decided against pursuing his signature.
That is according to the Manchester Evening News, who claim that Arsenal, Atletico Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur all did their “due diligence” on Garnacho before opting to pursue other targets.
Arsenal eventually decided to purchase Chelsea winger Noni Madueke instead, Tottenham added Mohammed Kudus and are now chasing both Eberechi Eze and Savinho, while Atletico Madrid completed the signing of Alex Baena.
Garnacho scored 11 goals in 58 games last season and his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €59.8m.
