BlueCo have been no strangers to controversy since taking ownership of Chelsea in 2022 and once again face the wrath of angry fans, who are fuming at what has been branded an “absurd” transfer policy.

Supporters at Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg have long been disgruntled at being part of a multi-club model and ultras group UB90 are set to hold a protest against BlueCo “until further notice”.

Although Racing, who were taken over by the Todd Boehly-led consortium in 2023, qualified for Europe this season and will take part in the Conference League, fans have been left fuming by the lack of autonomy the club has.

Strasbourg, in their view, have become little more than a feeder team for Chelsea, who have sent three players on loan to Stade de la Meinau this season and have sold two more to Liam Rosenior’s side.

The Ligue 1 outfit, meanwhile, helped to develop Andrey Santos last season while building the market value of Djordje Petkovic by giving the goalkeeper a platform to shine.

Strasbourg have lost many of their key figures over the summer and have replaced them with youngsters that it appears BlueCo plan to make a profit on, leaving supporters furious.

Strasbourg fans hit out at BlueCo

In a statement published on Sunday morning, prior to the opening Ligue 1 match of the season away to Metz, the Ultra Boys 90 published a lengthy statement slamming BlueCo.

“We would like to clarify our position for the upcoming season […] The quarter-hour silence at the start of the match will be maintained until further notice,” it says.

“The transfer window carried out so far proves to the point of absurdity that Racing is no longer a club that makes decisions in its own interest. On the contrary, we are witnessing a headlong rush where Chelsea is leading the way to the detriment of our club’s independence.”

Strasbourg’s relationship with BlueCo has been tense since the investment company first took over the club, and even in this new era of European football, the fanbase remains angry with the owners.
