Monday’s reports claim that Roma are in the final stages of negotiations with Aston Villa over a deal for Jamaica international Leon Bailey for a total fee of around €25m.

Gian Piero Gasperini is hoping to add multiple new signings to his attacking ranks before the close of the summer transfer window, and reports over the last few days confirm that Bailey has been one of the leading candidates

According to updates from Gianluca Di Marzio, the deal is not quite done just yet, but contact between the Roma and Aston Villa has been described as ‘continuous’ as the parties look to come to a final agreement.

How much will Roma pay to land Bailey from Aston Villa?

Daniele Longo claims that the deal will be worth around €25m, made up of an initial loan fee of around €2m and an option to buy for around €23m.

The 28-year-old has spent the last four years with Aston Villa, having joined in a deal worth just shy of €35m (£30m) from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021.

He has come up with 22 goals from 144 appearances across all competitions in that time, but saw his opportunities limited last season, partly due to injuries and partly due to the loan signing of England international Marcus Rashford midway through the campaign.
