Roma sign Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey on season-long loan – Serie A News

Roma have signed Aston Villa forward Leon Bailey on a season-long loan. 

According to The Athletic, the loan fee for the 28-year-old is around £2.6 million, and the deal will include an option to buy for £19m at the end of the season.  

Bailey joined Villa in the summer of 2021 in a deal worth £30m from Bayer Leverkusen. 

He has since made 144 appearances in all competitions, bagging 22 goals and 24 assists. 

But Bailey was used sparingly last season by manager Unai Emery, featuring him in 24 Premier League games and starting him on 14 occasions only. 

The talented winger has two years on his contract at Villa Park, but the Midlands side are open to offers for him this summer. 

Villa are also looking to sell Alex Moreno and Leander Dendoncker in a bid to remain compliant with the league’s financial rules. 

Roma have had an impressive summer transfer window, as they aim to make an impressive start to the 2025-26 Serie A season.

They strengthened their attack by bringing in Evan Ferguson and Antonio Arena from Brighton & Hove Albion and Pescara. 

The Yellow and Reds also submitted a £20m offer to sign Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho, but the forward turned down the opportunity to play in the Serie A.  

Meanwhile, Neil El Aynaoui, Wesley, Devis Vasquez and Daniele Ghilardi have also joined Gian Piero Gasperini’s side, who will also be playing in the Europa League this season.
