    Nemanja Matic has already arrived in Italy and will undergo his medical with Sassuolo on Monday for his return to Serie A as a free agent.

    The midfielder celebrated his 37th birthday earlier this month and negotiated a termination of his contract with Olympique Lyonnais, just a year after joining them from Stade Rennes.

    Sky Sport Italia had footage of the player in the airport waiting to be picked up, as he will have his Sassuolo medical tests on Monday.

    New Serie A experience for Matic

    This represents a return to Italy for Matic, who had already played for Roma in the 2022-23 campaign, before his sale to Rennes.

    The veteran made 50 competitive appearances for the Giallorossi, contributing two goals and three assists.

    His other clubs include Chelsea, Vitesse, Benfica, and five years at Manchester United.

    Sassuolo had confirmed they were in talks with the Serbia international and he will be working with coach Fabio Grosso in Reggio Emilia.
