Cremonese are in negotiations with free agent and Leicester City legend Jamie Vardy, claim Sky Sport Italia.
The striker still feels he has much to give, even after turning 38 in January, and is available after his contract with Leicester City was allowed to expire following their relegation.
He had spent 13 years at the club and famously was decisive for the Premier League victory under coach Claudio Ranieri.
It is hoped that experience of working with an Italian tactician can help inspire Vardy to try the next step of his career in Serie A.
Vardy an intriguing idea for ambitious Cremonese
Cremonese just earned promotion via the play-offs and are under the guidance of coach Davide Nicola, a specialist in avoiding relegation.
He had the ideal start to the new season, earning a shock 2-1 victory away to Luka Modric’s Milan.
According to Sky Sport Italia transfer pundit Gianluca Di Marzio, Cremonese are in negotiations with Vardy and hope to convince him that this is the right move for him.
He is not the only high-profile striker on the Cremonese radar, as they are also close to a loan with option to buy for Olympique Marseille’s Faris Moumbagna.
