Chelsea to sign Alejandro Garnacho for £40m

Chelsea are set to sign Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho for £40 million, according to The Telegraph.

The Argentine fell out of favour under manager Ruben Amorim earlier this year and has been pushing for a new challenge elsewhere.

Chelsea have been his preferred destination for the last month and he is now on the cusp of joining the Blues from the Red Devils.

The Blues are ready to pay a fixed fee of £35 million plus £5 million in add-ons for the 21-year-old before the transfer deadline.

Talks are advanced between the clubs, and a formal agreement is expected to be reached for Garnacho to undergo his medical tests.

Garnacho made 21 goal contributions for the Red Devils last season, but Amorim does not believe he is suitable for his formation.

The Argentine will want to prove him wrong and has the opportunity to restart his Premier League career with an arch-rival this season.

Garnacho is set to return to Old Trafford with Chelsea next month. United are due to host the Blues shortly after the international break.
